THE BEREAN JEWS

Now the Berean Jews were of more noble character than those in Thessalonica, for they received the message with great eagerness and examined the scriptures every day to see if what Paul said was true. (Acts 17:11 NIV)

10 And the brethren immediately sent away Paul and Silas by night unto Berea:  who coming thither went into the synagogue of the Jews.   11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.   12 Therefore many of them believed; also of honourable women which were Greeks, and of men, not a few. (Acts 17:10-12 KJV)

The problem we have in Christendom today is as result of our gullibility. We have people who swallow every pill presented by anyone in suit and tie and this has caused a lot of controversies in the body of Christ.

Going by the Berean Jews lifestyle, the scripture says, they were searching the scripture everyday with great eagerness to see if what Paul said was true.

The problem we have is that, we are too occupied to study the scripture ourselves that is why the antichrist is flourishing in our midst.

3 And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be?  and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world? 4 And Jesus answered and said unto them, Take heed that no man deceive you.   5 For many shall come in my name, saying, I am Christ; and shall deceive many. (Matthew 24:3-5)

The deception is already on today and the only way is to be a student of the bible.

Isn’t it amazing when you ask a Christian why is he or she doing or not doing something, the reply you get often is “‘My pastor says it is a sin” well I’m not against it but what does the bible says on this issue. Do you bother to search the scripture to see if those things were true? We’ve heard and seen a lot cases where pastors will have carnal knowledge with his church member in the name of deliverance or prayer. When will our gullibility ends and go back to the scripture.

If you can’t buy a scripture of #2000 you will definitely buy an olive oil of #10000.

If you can’t tarry at the place of prayer, you will definitely hire prayer contractors.

If you can’t study the scripture to see what God has in stock for you, you will definitely visit false prophets for vision.

Be like the Berean Jews, don’t just swallow everything from any altar. Whenever you are in any meeting, go with a sieve to edit what you are hearing. Think on those things….
