Mysterious lesson from the "burning bush" (Exodus 3: 1ff).

Something strange happens on Mount Horeb as Moses was looking after his father-in-law's flock. He saw a bush burning without being consumed! What a mystery as it contradict every law of nature or science as the case may be. 

It can sounds so unbelievable or just as a myth to an average human being without Christ as His spirit helps our understanding of the scripture.

Moses seeing this couldn't help his curiosity but to move closer to the burning bush to ascertain if he has seen well or his eyes were merely decieving him, alas it was true! The bush was burning without being consumed. 

It will be of great help for us to note that the bush burning without being consumed has a supernatural power at work behind it as recorded in vs. 4 when Moses turn around to feed his eyes with this mystery. He heard the voice of God from the fire which means there is the presence of God in the fire. No wonder the bush was burning without being consumed!

We are just like this bush burning but the presence of God in our lives will determine if we will be consumed or not. We can not stop the bush from burning i.e. we can not control what happens around us, there are some unavoidable circumstances that befell on men but if God is present in our lives, we will be a mysterious sight for people as we will not be consumed by the circumstances.

No wonder the scripture says in Lamentations 3:22 "It is of the LORD's mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not." 

If the Lord is on your side, the enemies will wonder why you are not consumed despite the fire they set round about you.

Remember the three young Hebrew guys thrown into the lake of fire by the "power that be" the King and the people were expecting them to be consumed by the fire  but the Lord was with them even in the fiery furnace, and they were not consumed! What a miraculous God we have. 

Apostle John was also thrown into a pot of hot oil on fire, he miraculously got out of it unharmed in any way because God was with him. 

This fire I'm talking about is one no man can not do without passing through in life. Some situation you are now are nothing less than fire and you know it but he who you permit to dwell in you will determine if you will be consume or not. 

Remember his promise in  Isaiah 43:2 saying "When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee." 

What a wonderful promise of God, when we are passing through fire, we will not be burned! Why? Because God is with us. The Bible says if God be for us, who can be against us (Romans 8:31). 

You need Jesus in your life for you not be burned with the fire of life. His presence must be evident in your life because the fire set around your life is not funny. 

You need Jesus in your life as He is the surest fire proof you can put on for you not to be consumed.
